Hello,
Does anyone know how to estimate loss per unit length in an transmission line with standing waves (ZL=/Zr). I understand the loss is greater than the normal I2R loss for a flat (ZL=Zr) transmission line.

In general, the Mismatch Loss (dB) is:
-10*log(1-|gamma load|^2)

where |gamma load| is the magnitude of the load reflection coefficient.

I know that equation but is there a more comprehensive equation that also takes into account the length of the transmission line. To pose the question differently, will the loss be the same for a 0.1 meter and a 1 meter 50 ohm transmission line connected to two identical unmatched loads.
