Title: Help: how to recover files deleted from the library manager in cadence?
Post by x1346 on Dec 7th, 2010, 4:17am

Hi all,
I deleted some design files in the library manager by mistake. (My designs are on a server and I log in using a shell. And there is no other people using that server.) Who knows how to recover the lost files?
Thanks in advance.

Contact your design automation people -- they may be able to retrieve a backup...

Are you using a version control system such as SOS?  It creates automatic backups when you check in new versions of cells.

Till now I haven't found it has that function. Some one has tried in the ext2 file system, while the file system of the server I'm using is ext3. So I don't know whether there is a way to retrieve the deleted files.

Once you delete a library from a library manager, that file becomes deleted from your disk. Well, you may try to include the library and path in your cds.lib. If all else fails, try downloading a data recovery pro software. It might help you retrieve a backup.

Out IT makes hourly snapshots of all project data. That helped us many times  :) :). Using a version sync software is also a good idea - but many analog designers hate it (at least for 99% of the time).
