Title: Phase interpolator- Voltage vs Current mode
Post by iVenky on Jun 28th, 2021, 4:45pm

Hi,

What are the pros and cons of using a voltage mode and a current mode phase interpolator? Which one has lesser INL?

I could think of a few. I see that voltage mode phase interpolator is preferable when supply voltage is low. And current mode could be more linear if the supply voltage is high, as it is not as sensitive to rise/fall time of clk as compared to voltage mode PI. Is that right?
