strobed Pnoise analysis
Jan 10th, 2003, 4:10pm

I enjoyed Ken Kundert's article 'Predicting the Phase Noise of PLL-Based Frequency Synthesizers'.  However, in section 6.3, he mentions using "SpectreRF's  strobed PNoise analysis".  I'm using version 4.4.6.100.75, and I don't see an option for strobed PNoise analysis.  Is it available?

I've tried using strobeperiod in the PSS options form, but PNoise will return the same result whether strobeperiod is used or not (i.e. PNoise ignores strobeperiod).

Mike,
The strobeperiod parameter is not what you want. That turns on strobing for the normal transient or PSS analysis output. Instead, go to the Choose Analysis form for the PSS analysis and set Noise Type to timedomain.  This would result in the noise being displayed as a function of time. This is more than what you need, and is expensive. So set the skipcount to a large value to reduce the number of timepoints at which the noise is evaluated, and add the time you would like the noise to be evaluated to Add Specific Points.
