spectre simulation speed from command
Mar 10th, 2004, 4:01pm

Hi all,

Does of any see a noticeable speed improvement in running spectre simulation from command line. I don't see much difference between running in command line and running in ADE. If you see a lot of difference, can you kindly let me know how to get the improvement?

Thanks a lot,
jimmy li

Jimmy,

Why would you expect to see a speedup? It's the same
simulator, so unless the fact you're running out of memory
by having DFII/ADE running at the same time, or you are doing
something else compute intensive in ADE, I'd not expect it
to be any slower, really.

(unless you're talking about the "spectreS" interface, because
that could slow things down a lot because it was spending
so much time printing information into the CIW and the
top of the ADE window and the schematic window).
With the "spectre" interface, there's minimal overhead
in running via ADE.

Andrew.
