That would depend on your design rules... check with your process guys.

find the maximum tolerable Vgs and Vds (and others) for the foundry process, and if you respect those limits all the time (on, off, startup, shutdown, **all** conditions) you should be able to do it.

Hi xwj623,

This mainly depends on the break-down voltage of the MOS devices in the process you intend to use. As a rule of thumb, 0.13um MOSFET break-down voltage will be about 2.08V(gate oxide ~2.6nm->2.6x0.8=2.08V). Therefore I would  strongly suggest you NOT to do so if taking voltage variation etc into account.
Of course you will get more detailed information from your foundry which I believe will give you same advice.

Hope it helps a little.  ;)

Hi,

To the contrary to what says Jordan, a voltage lower than authorized is  usually not an issue from a device reliability point of view.

Whatever comment put here, it is your design manual that gives you the final point.

Regards.

Hi Tareeq,

First of all, I agree that it is your design manual that gives you the final point. On the other hand I personally still believe that the consideration of device reliability is the primary reason behind voltage range recommendations in the design manuals.

Still I am open to different ideas/opinions if justified sufficiently.
