NF measurement using noise source
Sep 11th, 2008, 3:41pm

Hello,
I am using HP346A noise source to measure the receiver chain noise figre. That is a ZIF system. I switch on/off the noise source, measure the output noise difference, do the calculation, I got the NF.
Do I need to subtract 3 dB from the calculation?
thanks.

In case of ZIF systems the NF is DSB (double sideband) so you don't need to subtract 3dB.
