FFE in TX
Jan 29th, 2011, 7:25pm

hi,
can any one please tell me the difference between pre-emphasis and de-emphasis. Little bit what i know is in pre-emphasis when signal changes from 0 to 1 swing would go higher than what it has to be.

Thanks.

FFE ( feed forward equalization) is an effort to minimize frequency dependent attenuation with the help of digital filter (FIR).
The de-emphasis increases the relative strength of high frequency content of the transmitted signal and increasing the total signal power
so that by the time data reaches RX, it has enough signal strength despite attenuation through channel.
