Choosing correct load capacitor for SC DC DC Buck converter
Sep 05th, 2011, 11:17pm

Hello all,
I am designing a Buck DC DC Switch cap converter for 3.3 Vin and 1.8 Vout, load current 10mA. Can anyone give me some references detailing the relation between charge transfer capacitors and load capacitor?

From one IEEE paper it was mentioned that the load capacitor directly affects the output ripple for a particular switching frequency. But is there any relation of Cl with load current, charge transfer caps and any other parameters?

Thank you for your help,
Vab

Suggest - get out of the IEEE papers and go read some of the industry papers out there on these types of converters. Intersil and others have writeups on how to select these components for their versions of these converters.

Application notes on these products will have writeups.

Not  a problem. The IEEE is often not the most useful source of information.

Even though I am a chapter chair for the IEEE and I review for the MTT and SSC journals, I generally see that the material that is "practical" never ends up in the IEEE publications.

Could you able to provide any IEEE paper in through this post? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what you are asking for. I am saying go read the application notes from industry manufacturers of these products.

Google search!
