performance curves

I have a BLA6H1011-600 LDMOS avionics power transistor datasheet. The data sheet contins some performance curves which makes some sense to me. After these curves there is a heading which says "Curves measured under Mode-S ELM pulse-conditions". What does this statement means?

if you have to ask those questions, then you may not be looking at the right components/parts.
