Phase Noise Simulation of Injection Locked Oscillator
Dec 13th, 2017, 7:27am

I am using the following setting for calculation of the phase noise using PSS and PNOiSE analysis:
PSS:
Beat Frequency = 50MHz (Same as the injection frequency)
Number of Harmonics = 100

PNOISE:
SweepType = relative
Relative Harmonic = 100 (Because oscillator frequency is 5G = 100*50M)
Start and Stop Frequencies = 10k and 100M
Maximum Sideband = 15

I am getting results which seem correct. Just wanted  to make sure if these parameters are correct. In particular, I am not sure if relative harmonic is the harmonic of the beat frequency or the oscillator frequency?
Thanks!

Your settings are correct. Just make sure that maxacfreq is set to maximum_sideband times the oscillation_frequency. Otherwise the noise folding is not taken into account.

Thank you for replying.
Should I also change the maxstep setting in the simulation?
