Title: how to choose technolgy Post by balu304 on Sep 28th, 2004, 3:35am sir! i am new to this group.i am having basic doubt.i want to design a RF receiver for 900 Mhz.some will use 0.7u,some others will use 0.25u..how can we choose. tell me will there be lot of cost difference if i choose 0.25 instead of 0.7u technology. Moreover,most of the university students are going for lessthan 0.25u,wont they think over cost..? i am using double balanced down conversion mixer,inductive degenerated LNA,and filters,opamp.i am new to RF area.can anybody help by answering some basic qns (i am doing M.E.project). thanks®ards.. |

As an introduction into RF design, I can recommend the book by Thomas Lee, see http://www.designers-guide.com/Books/#Lee-2003. |
Title: Re: how to choose technolgy Post by extractor_man on Nov 24th, 2004, 1:33am Depends on the product requirements in terms of : Ft, noise, power consumption, cost, Breakdown voltage, design difficulties, ... You have also to think on which technology you want to design: RFCMOS BICMOS SiGe or III-V technology For 9MHz requirement you need a technology with FT of 10x9MHz = 9GHz. It should be very difficult to design with CMOS0.7 to reach 900MHz! |
