Title: question about continuation methods Post by driveforce on Jun 20th, 2005, 5:14pm Hi, all, In a DC operation point simulation, the simulator tried "homotopy = gmin" first and failed; then it tried "homotopy = source" and failed again; at last, it tried "homotopy = dptran" and successed. So, in the above situation, do I need to change some settings of the simulator, or do I need to re-design my circuit? I have read the 2nd chapter of Ken's book, but not found the answer of my questions. Any commends are welcome!! Thanks advance. -driveforce |
Title: Re: question about continuation methods Post by Ken Kundert on Jun 20th, 2005, 6:35pm You have two choices. 1. You can do nothing. This is by far the most popular choice. 2. You can set homotopy=dptran on the DC analysis. This would cause subsequent dc analyes to run a bit faster. Do not re-design your circuit. The fact that a particular homotopy method does or does not work on you circuit is no reflection on the quality of the circuit. -Ken |
