Title: What tool do you use to make graphics for docs? Post by Marc Murphy on Feb 1st, 2006, 7:56pm Hi, I am writing some papers for school. So far, I use either a screen capture tool to grab a schematic and edit with Gimp. If I really need to, I will draw from scratch with Adobe Illustrator. I'm wondering if there are any tools you folks would recommend for generating circuit schematics for school & IEEE papers? Thanks in advance, Marc |

For schematics for publishing IEEE papers we use Microsoft Visio, but there might be other good vector drawing programs as well. Bernd |

Bernd, thanks! I find that the graphic ends up looking bad once I save it to EPS. It comes out much crisper if it's a BMP screencap. I had a version of Visio before but it didn't seem to include the symbols one often sees in IEEE papers. I did a search and found that someone was selling a pack of symbols. What version of Visio do you have and did you need to purchase any additional symbols to make your schematics? Cheers, Marc |
