Title: Any hints on this ?
Post by jefkat on Feb 10th, 2006, 4:02am

Hello folks,
Would any one please comment on this..

1) I want an accurate transient simulation (with small time steps) but would not like to use
so much memory. Anyway to store few points for plotting, etc?

2) I have an oscillator (5GHz) which stabilizes after about 5 micro seconds and so I have to simulate for long
( transient analysis). Anyway out of this.

                Thanks for your time!
                 shaf.

Check your simulator documentation.  Our internal simulator has such abilities, and I think Spectre does as well.
Do spectre -help tran and look for "outputstart" "skipstart" and "skipcount"

If you have access to spectre, you can also use PSS, which accelerates the settling - so you don't have to output the signal all the time it's settling.

Or you could use envelope (envlp) analysis in oscillator mode (added in MMSIM60 USR1) which allows you to skip cycles whilst the oscillator is settling, and see the settling behaviour of the oscillator (PSS would just allow you to see the final settled steady state).

Best Regards,

Andrew.
