Title: THD of single ended amplfiers
Post by junga on Feb 14th, 2006, 12:08am

Hi, What is the best way to simulate THD of a single ended amplifier? The ampilifier is capacitively coupled to the input. I am choosing the maximum input level that is expected because it should result in maximum distortion. However, how can I select the fundamental?

Any tips?

Regards,

Junga

To simulate THD, just run transient and take the THD by using calculator (assuming you are using cadence). The fundamental frequency is based on the speed that your amplifier is expected to be running, so if the expected input frequency is 20MHz then use a sine source running at 20MHz.

Hope this helps !
