Title: How to extract phase noise curve off spectrum Post by neoflash on Mar 27th, 2006, 5:00am HI: In measuring clock signal phase noise, we can use spectrum analyzer. The output curve can be processed to get phase noise curve. However, the spectrum will be coved by the noise floor in large offset frequency. How we extract the real phase noise from the output of spectrum analyzer? |
Title: Re: How to extract phase noise curve off spectrum Post by Richard Ward on Mar 29th, 2006, 10:46am Hi, I tend to ignore the instrument noise floor and specify the range of phase noise accumulation. A common standard (for me) is 10kHz-100MHz range and I can measure the circuit output (serdes-based) and get results of 700-800fs from a "good" spectrum analyzer (which are believeable from the simulations). Not sure this helps you - but it's another point of view, Richard |
