Title: CMOS Inductor design; Asitic vs fasthenry etc.
Post by ACWWong on Apr 20th, 2006, 6:37am

Hello community,

i was wondering if anyone had experinece comparing the free tools available for modelling spiral indcutors in CMOS.
I have used ASITIC for many years and found it quite good (easy to use, and fairly accurate) but have often found convergence issues which results in me having to extroplate my lumped inductor models based on my exact usage frequency.
Does any body have any comments whether they have found fasthenry in conjuntion with capacitance solvers (eg. found within cadence) any better than ASITIC (speed, useability, convergence, accuracy) ?

cheers
aw

If you use SpectreRF, you can access to VPCM (Virtuoso Passive Component Modeler) for free.
