Title: exclude transistor from noise analysis
Post by mkaragou on Jun 1st, 2006, 4:42am

Do you know if there is a way to exclude transistors from the noise analysis in spectre?
Is there a option to make a transistor noisless like it is possible for resistors?

Because sometimes it is nice to see the noise contribution of every single transistor to check where the dominant noise source is located.

Furthermore is it possible to simulate only one sort of noise soure like only thermal or only flicker noise?
Again the goal would be, to see what kind of noise is dominant in the design.

Depends for the simulator you're using...
Anyway, if you change the transistor model to a noiseless model, the noise contribution of the transistor would be fine  ;)

I am using spectre in cadence v5.0.33 my models are written in bsimv3.3

I already have set the noia, noib, noic parameters to zero to get rid of the flicker noise
but I have not found any way to switch off the thermal noise in the model files!

I should develop the good habit to use the search function before stating question!

One thing that would be nice to have would be, the possibility to present results of the noise summary graphically when a parameter is sweeped.

You can use the results browser to navigate to the noise analysis outputs - you can plot the contribution of any noise source (at the output) for any device in the circuit.

Andrew.
