Title: How to simulate circuit with my own inductors? Post by zhangjerome on Jan 16th, 2007, 7:32pm Now I have the S parameters of my own inductors. I want to simulate a circuit with these inductors as matching elements. So how to incorporate these inductors with other circuit component in Spectre? Thanks. |

Title: Re: How to simulate circuit with my own inductors? Post by zhangjerome on Jan 17th, 2007, 4:51pm Here are some other questions. 1)How to translate the S parameters into a physically equivalent circuit? I will use the Pi model for the inductor. How to get the component parameters to describe the inductors?Any references related to this issue? 2)Can circuit simulator derive the inductor's DC characteristics from S parameters? I use this inductor as a degeneration element, so the DC operating point is influenced by the inductor. 3) How to simulate a netlist with Spectre? Just netlist, without schematic. Thanks~~~ |

Does Spectre provide such tools?? Thank you ~~~ |

Depending on the frequency range of your S parameter data, you may or may not get an accurate answer for dc ... Quote:
Make sure spectre is in your path and just call it with the netlist as the argument. |

My brief search of the documentation leads me to say "no". Perhaps you can find time to perform a thorough search and/or wait for an authoritative reply from more senior members of this community. |
Title: Re: How to simulate circuit with my own inductors? Post by sheldon on Jan 18th, 2007, 8:10am Zhang, You can use Model Trainer in VPCM to generate an equivalent circuit for your inductor from s-parameter data, assuming the data is in Touchstone format. However, why don't you just use the n-port, that is why it is there? Best Regards, Sheldon |
Title: Re: How to simulate circuit with my own inductors? Post by zhangjerome on Jan 18th, 2007, 4:26pm Sheldon: I have no ided about whether or not the S parameters can give a accurate representation about DC characteristics. With a equivalent circuit, maybe it's more clear how the inductor will influence the circuit's operating point. I am just trying different ways. Regards Jerome Zhang |
