Title: Varactors in CMOS process.
Post by eng on May 19th, 2007, 2:51pm

Hi all,
What are the differences between MOS varactor and hyperabrupt junction varactor? I need to use a varactor for tunability in my baseband filter. The process I'm using has these two. The supply voltage is 1V and cutoff freq is subMHz and process is 0.18um. Which varactor is more suitable for my case?

Depends on your application, the hyperabrupt junction varactor normally has larger tuning range, but the Q might not be very good. Your process design kits will have details regarding these numbers.

chase
