Title: quesiton about SpectreRF simulation of mixer Post by manfred on Nov 2nd, 2007, 8:22pm Hi, everyone! I'm designing one mixer which is low-IF architecture, (RF is 1575M, Lo is 1571M, so IF is 4M) when simmulation with PSS or PSP, the Bit Frequency is 1M, if I want to observe 1.5G frequency, the sideband will be set 1500!! It's too big than the maximum sideband,250. what's more, the sideband is big, the simulation is very slow! who can tell me how to deal with this problem? thanks a lot |
Title: Re: quesiton about SpectreRF simulation of mixer Post by pancho_hideboo on Nov 2nd, 2007, 11:53pm Just use "select from range" instead of "Number of harmonics" and "maxsideband". Or use HB-QPSS/QPSP. You can easily find these solutions if you read manual surely. I don't think this forum is a place where you ask questions about specific tool's usage. Read manual or contact with technical support of EDA vendor. |
Title: Re: quesiton about SpectreRF simulation of mixer Post by Forum Administrator on Nov 3rd, 2007, 5:36pm It is perfectly acceptable to ask questions about specific tools on this forum. However, you should not ask simulation questions in a design board. Use the appropriate simulation board. In this case, that would be RF Simulation. -Ken |
Title: Re: quesiton about SpectreRF simulation of mixer Post by Ken Kundert on Nov 3rd, 2007, 5:59pm You can get a lot of useful information by just applying the LO alone (with PSS) and using a small signal analysis, such as PAC or PNoise. This would give the transfer function through the mixer or the noise performance of the mixer. If you want distortion information, you should use QPSS. Either harmonic balance or shooting methods can be used. -Ken |
