Title: input.scs: +8 is an instance of an undefined model
Post by dpx4086 on Jan 20th, 2008, 1:41am

when i tried to make post-simulation using specte simulator with the extracted view (produced in DIVA), i got some errors in the spectre.out :
Error found by spectre in `stage1_rfpdk_sym_fordiva_extracted', during circuit
       read-in.
input.scs: +8 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +7 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +6 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +5 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +4 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +3 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.
input.scs: +2 is an instance of an undefined model dnwpw.

at the same time, here is the relative message in the input.scs :
   \+8 (IN VDD) dnwpw area=5.02139e-10 pj=0.00010794 m=1
   \+7 (GND VDD) dnwpw area=9.01648e-11 pj=3.902e-05 m=1
   \+6 (GND VDD) dnwpw area=5.6673e-10 pj=0.00025188 m=1
   \+5 (GND VDD) dnwpw area=2.5659e-10 pj=0.00011404 m=1
   \+4 (GND VDD) dnwpw area=1e-20 pj=1e-20 m=1
   \+3 (GND VDD) dnwpw area=1e-20 pj=1e-20 m=1
   \+2 (GND _7) dnwpw area=1e-20 pj=1e-20 m=1

what does dnwpw mean?
how to solve this problem?

thank you.

dnwpw is the name of a model. It should be found in the model file (from the PDK).

Hi,

I remember having an error like that before. I think dnwpw is a parasitic diode. You should find your diode model file and see if it has the same name. If the name is slightly different then it won't be recognized.

cheers,
Aaron

thanks for your reply, Ken Kundert and aaron_do.
i can find the model of dnwpw_1p8 in the pdk models. but there is no model for dnwpw.
how could this dnwpw be produced since there's no model for him ?

Hi,

maybe you could make a copy of that model file, and rename the model dnwpw. Then in the analog design environment, use the modified model file for diodes...

that's assuming they are one and the same...

hehe...i've tried this. and the result is S21 dropped from +3dB to -8dB. i'm not sure whether it is normal.
