Title: Is Phase Noise (VCO) affected by amplifier ? Post by Faisal on Apr 7th, 2008, 11:53am Hi, Is the Phase Noise (VCO) specified in terms of dbC/ Hz affected by the amplifier that follows it ? The amplifier contribuites noise i.e. has noise figure > 0. I am confused about the overall phase noise i.e. cascasde of VCO and buffer amplifier... Any links / references and explanation will be certainly helpful |
Title: Re: Is Phase Noise (VCO) affected by amplifier ? Post by neoflash on Apr 8th, 2008, 5:03am voltage noise is different from timing noise (jitter). So, the noise of the buffer amplifier is converted to timing jitter in the way of modulating the zero-crossing timings. You can look for Ken's document on this topic inside this website. It is a MUST to read for clock designers. |
