Title: Spectre simulation with one instance operating at different temperature
Post by ywguo on Jun 29th, 2008, 4:58am

Hi Guys,

Can I simulate with one instance operating at the temperature different from other instances? For eg., one instance is set to operate at 125C while others at the nominal temperature, say 27C. Thank you.

Yawei,

There is an instance property, trise, for the bsim3v3 and
bsim4 model that allows you to do this, I think.

                                                   Best Regards,

                                                     Sheldon

Hi Sheldon,

I have checked BSIM3v3 manual and BSIM4 manual. There is not any parameter named trise. :(

In HSPICE manual, a parameter named DTEMP is introduced. I find parameters named trise and dtemp in the CDF of res and nmos in analogLib.  So  I tried to instance nmos and res and measure its DC current. The operating point including Vth and Ids varies as I put a number for trise. However, the parameters trise and dtemp don't affect the resistance and current of the resistors.

Now the netlist looks like the following.

Code:
M1 (net3 net17 0 0) nch w=2u l=180.00n trise=40
M2 (net6 net17 0 0 ) nch w=2u l=180.00n
R1 (net20 0) rnpo1w l=10u w=1u dtemp=20
R2 (net22 0) rnpo1w l=10u w=1u

I think Synopsys adds DTEMP to all their models, even if it's not in the standard.

Cadence adds "trise" (note spectre is case-sensitive by default) to its models.

I assume Eldo and other simulators have similar additions.
