Title: How to increase the standard deviation of jitter
Post by pkd on Aug 13th, 2008, 7:29pm

Hi all,
I have a PLL which takes a sinusoidal input and converts it to square wave with a frequency set by the control bits.
I want to perform an experiment by increasing the standard deviation of the jitter (but keeping the Gaussian behavior of jitter in tact).
How can I do that from the external control?
Thanks in advance. :)

Hi PKD, you should read some more literature about jitter in PLL's.
Your question does not allow to judge, which jitter of which block you want to vary. If you're just curious in checking the effect of any jitter on the output, either vary your reference frequency or change the kVCO of your VCO with a gaussian pulse.

Regards,

Stefan
