Hi Guys,
I want to have the numbers of flicker noise coefficients for both NMOS and PMOS in 0.13um UMC process.

Hi all,
I want  1/f noise coefficient numbers for 0.13um technology.If u guys don't have,pls suggest some procedure to get it from simulation...

Umm ... shouldn't you be asking the foundry modeling group?  Do you have Spice models for the process?  It's probably a violation of some NDA for anyone to post those numbers on a public forum ...

And this thread probably belongs in "Modeling > Semiconductor devices"

Do you mean from measurement?  If the numbers aren't in the model card, then you can't get them from simulation -- and if they are in the model card, then how does that differ from what you're asking for??

Hi Geoffrey,
I actually have done simulation and in the noise summary of all devices there are some parameters like fn(for flicker noise ) and id(for thermal noise).Then from input squared noise at 1Hz,i can calculate flicker noise coefficient and it is of ~10^-14 V^2um^2 for PMOS.Surprisingly for NMOS it is lesser.But in  literature it is reported that PMOS flicker coeff. is an order smaller than NMOS.Now here is my confusion...first the magnitude and then the similar order magnitudes for both PMOS and NMOS...can u pls clarify it??

I not an expert... but I think that older technologies (the one textbooks are referring to) used PMOS transistors with buried channel. The flicker noise of those devices is lower compared to (surface channel) NMOS. However, modern technologies don't use buried channels anymore. Flicker noise of N- and PMOS is therefore similar.

Are you measuring the current noise through a voltage source?  Otherwise, the transfer function from the channel (where the 1/f noise is "generated") to the output, as well as the transfer function from the input source to the output, are involved.  And if your input source for computing input-referred noise is on the gate, these transfer functions won't agree.

But I think Berti probably has the most important fact.
