Can someone point me to a comprehensive user guide/reference for the AMS Designer environment.

you should fine it in your Cadence installation path...

the AMS user guide should be something like... IUSxx/doc/amssimug/amsimug.pdf

Get Ken Kundert's and Olaf Zinke's book: "The Designer's Guide to Verilog-AMS "

Read every word of the first few chapters and use the rest as a reference as needed. The days of trial, heartbreak and error you will save are many more than the few days it will take you to sit down and read.
