Title: fundamental questions about periodic steady state and pss analysis Post by henrywent on Jul 14th, 2009, 7:13pm hi there, what is the difference between the steady state of a circuit (in the context of analog design) and the periodic steady state of a circuit (in the context of RF design)? And the difference between pss analysis and DC analysis(or maybe AC , tran?).I am really confused about these concepts, please help! |
Title: Re: fundamental questions about periodic steady state and pss analysis Post by currant on Jul 15th, 2009, 12:35am As I understand: In pss analysis we get a variable with fundamental frequency operating point . In dc (op) analysis we get constant operating point, which is used to calculate small-signal parameters. In tran analysis OP calculate at every time step. So pss plays OP analysis role for all small-signal periodic analyses. |
Title: Re: fundamental questions about periodic steady state and pss analysis Post by Andrew Beckett on Jul 15th, 2009, 12:40am Take a look at this paper (you'd find this in the Analysis link at the top of the Designer's Guide page) http://www.designers-guide.org/Analysis/rf-sim.pdf, in particular at section 4. Regards, Andrew. |
