hi,
can any please explain on what basis i should select window for my application?I used to take hann window (as many of colleagues use), but donno reason. if any body can direct a good reference that would be great help.

Hi Rajasekhar,

I don't know what's your application. When I simulate Nyquist rate data converters, the rectangular window is often used because of coherent sampling. For sigma-delta data conveters, hanning, hamming, and blackman are often because the chaotic output of sigma-delta modulators results in spectrum leakage. Personally, hanning window is often used. But other windows are good enough, too. Just look at the frequency spectrum to make sure the leakage is minimized and not visible.

Additionally, you may find tons of application notes on websites of ADI, Maxim etc. which explain how to select your window. Just go into application notes written for ADCs.
