Title: question on Monte Carlo simulation
Post by subgold on Oct 23rd, 2009, 1:30am

in Monte Carlo simulation, i sometimes observe much larger standard deviation (nearly doubled) by using 'mismatch only' option than using 'process&mismatch' option. mostly in noise simulation.

does that sound reasonable? what is the reason behind this effect? or is there just something wrong in the model?

Hi Subgold,

I think there is a problem somewhere as this behavior does not really make sense from a physical point of view. There could be a problem with either you models cards or your Spectre version (very unlikely).

The standard deviation of the process itslef is usually broader than the mismatch as the latter is a local variation.

Best is to cross-check your model cards and share this problem with your PDK provider or with Cadence customer support.

I usually don't ask people to post their model cards as this is confidential information.

Cheers,
Riad.
