Title: ms-line component from AnalogLib
Post by unevb on Jan 23rd, 2010, 8:29pm

I am trying a couple of simple simulations to figure out how a distributed amplifier works. I am using the component "msline" from analogLib because here the Zo can be specified in terms of the physical dimension of the microstrip (which I know).

How do I simulate to check if the microstrip model is actually giving the value of Zo I expect?

I can't find out any design issue in your post.
Your questions are no more than very easy issue related to usage of simulator.
However you don't describe what vendor's simulator you use.

Please post to Simulator's Board not Design's Board.

What vendor's simulator do you use ?

Although I don't know what vendor's tool you use,
evaluate chain-matrix, {A, B, C, D} by SP-Analysis or AC-Analysis.
Zo is given by sqrt(B/C).

As another method, you can also use open/short method.
Zo is given by sqrt(Zshort*Zopen).
See the following.

The followings are general notes.
 - Use correct terminologies.
 - Warnigns are different from Errors.
 - ADS is not name of simulator.
 - There is no tool which name is Cadence.
 - There are many simulators which have analyses called as PSS, PAC and Pnoise.
 - Don't use Direct Plot of Cadence ADE blindly without knowing definition.
 - MATLAB are different from Simulink.
