Title: power consumption in ADC
Post by VNF on May 5th, 2010, 9:05am

Hi all,

When I check the current flow from VDD, the current I got has big spikes, (from 30mA to 120mA) (as attached), in cases like this, how would I calculate the power consumption of my ADC?

Thanks a lot!

I prefer RMS value of current for one period, although averaging mode of actual DC current meter in Digital Multimeter calculates simple averaging not RMS.

If you want to know post processing method, post your questions to simulator's board not design board.
And describe tool's name which you use as post processing.

cadence allows you to plot the average or rms of the curren through calculator tool.

Hi Pancho_hideboo,

I prefer average value of current because this is not signal power but current consumption.

See subject of this thread.
It is "power consumption in ADC".
