Title: MIM cap in TSMC /MOM cap
Post by memomemomemo on Aug 28th, 2010, 7:42pm

Hi.

My design is at 2GHz.
I have a 30pF capacitor in my design which is in TSMC. I know MOScaps have a maximum-minimum range. So I don't want to use it.

I could not decide which capacitor to use? Can I use MIM caps ?  If I can not use it, what is the reason? Usually what is the maximum MIM capacitance I can use?

Shall I design my MOM cap? How can I ensure that

Thanks

hi,
i didn't understand your question fully...for a such a big cap 30pf, apart from moscap there is no other option. I know it has max and min value that doesn't mean it shouldn't be used as a cap. MIM or MOM are very difficult from area point of view (i can say impossible also). Other wise go for some active circuit which can multiply you small value of cap and gives you 30p.

Thanks,
Rajasekhar.
