Title: Figure of merit for wideband low noise amplifier Post by saam on Nov 23rd, 2010, 9:17pm Hello Can anyone give the formula for the Figure of merit(FOM) for wideband low noise amplifier for wimax applications. ThankU saam |

Title: Re: Figure of merit for wideband low noise amplifier Post by aaron_do on Dec 1st, 2010, 5:52pm Hi, are you talking about one FOM to try and summarize the total performance of the LNA? If so, there is no perfect FOM. However, I have seen some very bad FOMs around. So as a suggestion, when you are deciding your FOM, it should be based on real tradeoffs in the circuit design. It doesn't make sense for you FOM to have something like VoltageGain(dB)/PowerConsumption(mW) because voltage gain in dB is not proportional to power consumption in mW. cheers, Aaron |
