Title: Step loading current in linear regulator
Post by newic on Jun 30th, 2011, 4:04am

After designing a linear regulator, i did a step response on the current loading from 0mA to max mA & from max mA to 0mA with a paramter tr (ramping rate).   I put a tr=10ns, i see a big voltage jump, which exceed the max electrical over stress condition of  transitors. What is the realistic ramping rate?

100ns is much resonable for load transient. Indeed the undershoot or overshoot depends on your loop performance.

if the ramping rate frequency is higher than the bandwidth of the opamp, the opamp wont respond instantly, it needs some time.
