Title: phase noise simulation
Post by kunhsun on Jun 30th, 2011, 7:21pm

Hello:
I want to use a Verilog-A model  to run a phase noise simulation by Spectre-RF or ADS.But it always show some error messages.

I just want to use verilog-A model to substitute some blocks in the PLL .

How to use those model appropriately ?Is there another methods to run phase noise simulation?
~Thanks~

You haven't given nearly enough information for anyone to help you.

What error messages are you getting?
What analysis are you running? (transient noise, pnoise?)
What blocks are you substituting with Verilog-A (and what are you using for the other blocks)?

I use the verilog-A model to substitute PFD,CP and the divider block in the PLL to run a phase noise simulation by Spectre-RF.
I follow the same steps (period steady state simulation-->phase noise simulation) as usual.
For a ideal verilog-A model, there is no noise exists, and it can not find steady state solution. So,I can not run phase noise simulation if I just use a ideal verilog-A model.
What method  should I use to do the phase noise simulation if I want to run a block that described by verilog-A model?
~thanks~
