Title: optimization algorithms
Post by jovial on Aug 24th, 2011, 4:40am

hello everyone!!!!
can anyone provide me the list of latest optimization/search algorithms being used for the optimization of analog and digital systems....
which is the best among them ??
Thanks for any help and/ or inspiration!

that's a very general question, and not easy to answer.

Optimization for what? (power, noise, linmearity bandwidth or????)

Optimization due to what? (Process, power, temperature, or???)

Got something more specific?

From math view point these things matter most:

number of parameters
type of parameters (like integer or continous)
goal function characteristics (smooth, having steps, having multiple minima or only one, sum of squares, etc.)

In many benchmarks BFGS is amoung the best - if problem is smooth. Source code is available in Numerical Recipes in Pascal (or C). :) :) :)
