Title: .lin analyze
Post by haykp on Oct 4th, 2011, 9:49pm

Dear Forum,

I want to understand the need of .lin analyze. It is not clear for me when this analyze is needed and what does it measure.

Please help.

Thanks,

It would be helpful if you could tellus what simulator engine you are using.

I am using HSPICE.

The HSPICE .LIN analysis is a linear network analysis.  It is used to calculate noise and small-signal transfer parameters (i.e. S-parameters) between the terminals of a network.  The network terminals are identified by using the port element.

Thanks Spiceoracle.

And how to know what is s-parameter?

S-parameters are commonly used by RF and analog engineers to describe network characteristics.

Here is a link to one of the best application notes that I know of to explain what S-parameters are and how they are used.
