Title: magnetotransistors Post by thechopper on Dec 30th, 2011, 10:50am Hello all, I was lately interested in magnetotransistor (MT) technology as an alternative to integrated vertical hall plates for detecting magnetic field, and noticed literature was slowly diminishing in the last years compared to what was investigated about 10-15 years ago. I know hall plates technology is cheaper and most commercial products use them, but I was wondering if anybody knows the actual reasons behind the failure of MTs as a commercial technology, if that statement is true (at least I do not know of any commercial magnetic sensor using MTs). In case what I'm suggesting is not true, is there any new (less than 10 years old) publications showing some progress on the field? Any documentation you can point me to will be highly appreciated. Many thanks Tosei |
Title: Re: magnetotransistors Post by loose-electron on Jan 6th, 2012, 1:50pm Drop a inquiry to the CMRR at UCSD http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/ Neal or Jack should be able to answer your question. I've been away from this area since 1993 so my info is out of date. |

Title: Re: magnetotransistors Post by loose-electron on Jan 10th, 2012, 3:51pm Not a problem, I did stuff for disk drives from about 1980 to 1993 so I used to know a lot about the subject. These days the topic has changed a lot so its best to ask somebody in the area doing research. Hey! I'm Outdated! :D ;D :P |
Title: Re: magnetotransistors Post by RFICDUDE on Jan 22nd, 2012, 12:23pm Jerry, Unfortunately, Jack Wolf past away last year. I took a digcom class from him when I was out that way. He was a good teacher and researcher. |
