Title: Layout in NCSU 0.5um technology
Post by Flynn Rider on Sep 27th, 2012, 8:59am

Dear reader,

I have been using IHP250nm technology library for some time, inwhich I could easily import my circuit schematic components from'Composer' into 'Virtuoso Layout Editor' while making layout. But now I have to use NCSU 0.5um technology inwhich I could not import the components into Virtuoso. Questions:

1)Is importing components from Composer (schematics editor) into Virtusos(layout editor) technology specific? Should not it be tool/software specific?

In NCSU i have learned we are required to make each MOSFET ourselves with 'nactive' etc layers......But how can we make layouts of bjts and diodes?????any tutorials/links for NCSU ami06 technology? :'(

In most PDKs from foundries, the basic devices come with two "views": the symbol view for placing in a schematic and the layout view for virtuoso.  (These layout views are sometimes called "pcells", if they have some scalability (eg, L and W for MOSFETs).

It sounds like the NCSU library does not have any layout views.
