Title: Monte carlo simulation in Cadence IC6.1.5
Post by bhl3302 on Feb 25th, 2013, 6:34pm

Hi All,

I designed a bandgap voltage reference and want to see how it works in Monte carlo simulation. I cannot make it run and the status is always kept in 0/100 (I set 100 runs).
I found from ADE XL help that said
"Virtuoso Analog Design Environment XL Known Problems and Solutions

CCR 674267: Running a parameter sweep with Monte Carlo is not supported

Description: If any global variable or parameter is being swept, users cannot run Monte Carlo analysis. The variable/parameter has to be disabled.

Solution: Use the Corners UI to setup the conditions under which the results of Monte Carlo need to be evaluated. "

Could any body advise how can I use corners UI to sweep the temperature and get the statistical analysis result of my output bandgap voltage?

Thank you very much!

BHL3302,

What exactly are you trying to do? It seems like the workaround
being suggested is to use the corner to perform a sweep similar to
your sweep: Corner 1 = 0C, Corner 2=20C etc. Since ADE XL
can perform measurements across corners, you can then look for
the reference voltage shift across corners. I forget the supported
measurements, think at least min, max, and average are supported.
If you want to do more complex testing, for example, test the
temperature drift with trimming, then there is more work to do.
