Title: high frequency lna design(just a beginner) Post by ravigupta on Jun 16th, 2003, 11:06am hello everyone . I'm a graduate student at Univ. of Texas at Austin. I'm a novice to rf design ,and am currently working on the lna design. I'm yet to get the spectre rf installed, Can anyone tell where can I get the correct mos models .. yaa theres mosis ..where i can use ami .5um ...,would that be fine? and ..there is no channel length modulation parameter(lambda) specified in those models ..,so how can one derive that from the given parameters ..? |
Title: Re: high frequency lna design(just a beginner) Post by fhidalgo on Jun 30th, 2003, 7:33am The design of an LNA is bounded by specifications that need to be implemented. As such, an LNA for a GSM radio might be different from that needed for an UWB radio. The IC technology chosen will depend heavily on the circumstances being considered. Apparently you are working on a high-frequency LNA implementation. High frequency describes a wide range of applications. Furthermore, while you might consider, for example, 1.8GHz high frequency, other might consider high frequency 10 GHz or more. In either case the technology chosen, the LNA topolgy chosen, the specifications dictating the design and more will be different. There are some common elements that govern the desing of LNAs such as low NF, good IP3, BW, etc. Your application should determine how low a NF you want to achieve, what your IP3 should be, and how broadband your design must be. I believe a 0.5u CMOS technology is not appropriate for the design of a "high-frequency" LNA design, unless the requirements are quite relaxed. MOSIS is a good source for IC technologies and related models. TSMC also offers IC technology and models: 0.18u CMOS for example. Good luck. Fernando |
