Title: Phase error simulations of a QVCO using Spectre
Post by Ali Fard on Jul 14th, 2003, 11:56pm

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding the phase error simulations using spectre in Cadence. Are there any simpler way of simulating the phase error of a QVCO and getting an approximative number of the error? Or shall I just use the calculator like the old-fashioned way?

Do you have SpectreRF? If you are designing VCOs you should. Anyway, with SpectreRF it is easy. Simply use PSS analysis to compute the steady-state behavior. By default it computes the magnitude and phase of each signal, so you can simply subtract the phase of the output signals to determine their phase difference.
