Title: SpectreRF User Guide
Post by Paul Geraedts on Jan 6th, 2005, 5:23am

While reading certain parts of the 'Affirma RF Simulator (SpectreRF) User Guide', I can't help start doubting its contents.

Take for example the part 'Noise Calculations Using Pnoise' of chapter 6: 'Simulating Low-Noise Amplifiers'. Isn't using PSS+Pnoise, without applying any time varying signals to the circuit, nothing more than a  - rather inefficient - form of plain Noise analysis?

Feedback is much appreciated!

Thanks, Paul

Paul,
I personally don't use the SpectreRF user's manual and don't even know where to find a copy, so I cannot comment on its content. However, it is true that running PSS & PNoise when there is to time-varying signals in the circuit provides nothing over a conventional noise analysis, and runs much more slowly.
