Does anyone have experience in modeling flicker noise in Verilog-A for use in transient simulations?  We have modeled noise in the past using the random function in combination with an S-domain filter on the output.  However, the designer has asked for noise with a lowpass characteristic of 10 dB/dec rolloff.  I am not sure how to easily model this in Verilog-A.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In Spectre you can use the fracpole component to create an impedance that exhibits a half-pole rolloff over a pre-specified range of frequencies. If you are not using Spectre, you can use the fracpole suite available from this website (http://www.designers-guide.org/Modeling/fracpole.zip), but you will have to convert the netlists to be compatible with your simulator.

Thanks, Ken.   :)  I tried it in Spectre and that looks like a fairly straightforward method to generate the lowpass filter with 10dB/dec rolloff.
