Hi,

I am fresh grad, new to IC design, and I start to work as the IO designer. In the company is for a moment something stuck, I have no specific goal, I just should study... Unluckilly also my boss is gone this week and there is nothing who can lead me now.
Could someone recommend me some books, links, anything regarding IO design? Any help or hint will be apperciated.

I remember there is a book named Basic ESD and IO design by by Sanjay Dabral, Timothy Maloney. You should have some datasheets and standard for what you want to design, too. For eg, TTL or HSTL, and so on. Go to EIA websit to download the standards about I/O.

Having someone fresh out of the university doing I/O and ESD items?

You have been put into a very tough slot. Your boss should know better. ::)

Suggest that you get some standard I/O's and look at what is there, and understand that the problem is broken into several parts:

1. ESD Protection - get the JEDEC test standards for HBM and MM testing. (Google it)
2. Output Load Driving - Develop a model for external loads.
3. Jedec Latchup Tests - get the JEDEC standard for this as well. THis one is all about the parasitic diodes in the bulk.
