Title: saving final operating point from corner runs
Post by vivkr on Sep 6th, 2006, 3:05am

Hi,

I was wondering if one could save the spectre.fc for each corner run when running Corner Analysis in Spectre. Sometimes this is helpful, e.g. when you see a corner which did not fully settle. Then, the simulation for that corner can be restarted from the final operating point to see the eventual behavior.

This is better than running all corners for a long enough time to guarantee complete steady state conditions everywhere.

Currently, Spectre saves the .fc file in the netlist directory, which is overwritten with successive corner runs. Seems such a pity to lose such valuable information, when it could be simply put in each corner directory at the end of the run.

Regards
Vivek

Depending on how you are running your corners analysis, you could run them from an ocean script, where you can specify a different file name before you start each run.

even though they all end up in the same directory each one has its own name spectre.ss.fc spectre.tt.hot.fc ..etc

and so you can use it.. but I recall some state variables (branch currents?) are not saved in this file so it might not be quite accurate to assume you are "continuing" from the end of the last simulation.
