Title: I need QFP package model
Post by pancho_hideboo on Apr 9th, 2008, 11:44pm

Hi.

Previously package modeler was available as one of function of SpectreRF.
This package modeler could give models for QFP package.
But it seems this package modeler has been dismissed in current SpectreRF.

Is there any QFP package model ?

Is it gone, or did it get renamed?  Dismissed, or separated from MMSIM (simulators -- Spectre used to be part of CIC).  Seems you should ask your Cadence rep.

An executable binary file of package modeler still exists as "$CDS_INST_DIR/tools/dfII/bin/pkg".
Fomerly I could launch pakage modeler as stand alone tool by invoking this "pkg" command.

But now I encouter license error like following.

License status: 'ERROR (LM -30): license server ("hoge") does not support feature "SpectreRF" (run 'lic_error -30' for more information)'

But I can run SpectreRF. Maybe my license is for new MMSIM token type license.

pkg was end-of-lifed many years ago. It's use was discouraged by disabling it from the menus, but the executable remained for people who still had the licenses.

It only works if you have the old (product 32520) SpectreRF product. If you have the newer (38520 I think?) or multi-mode simulation licenses, they are not supported. This is reasonable, because we'd have to go back and modify an EOL'd tool to support a new license feature. So it really is only kept in IC5141 for legacy reasons.

I think it was EOL'd back in IC446 timeframe. In practice it's had nothing done to it since IC443 time frame. The binary is gone in IC61X releases.

Regards,

Andrew.
