Title: Design Data Management
Post by achim.graupner on May 13th, 2008, 12:05am

Dear all,

we considering using data management (DM) for DFII-data and other design data.
We currently using subversion (svn) on command line but this is like hell for analog designers. At the moment we have less that a dozen designers from two sites working in a project. It is assumed that it will slightly increase in the next years (say 20 designers from two sites in a project). We do want to employ just  one DM system for all data. Hence, easy command line support is required for digital design, a Windows client is appreciated as well for the spec etc.

So far we had a brief look onto
DesignSync/ Enovia MartixOne
ICmanage
SOS/ Clio
VersIC/ MethodICs

I like VersIC because we could stay to our svn approach. We did some evaluations with the tool. Does anyone has experiences with VersIC? I am also not sure whether the svn approach is really scalable as it creates a lot of data in the working copies.

Does anyone has experience with other tools? Maybe a comparison is available somewhere? On deepchip I have not found really recent posts.

Regards,
Achim
